Skaros Rock walk (Imerovigli)

A 20-minute downhill walk from the Imerovigli main square to the abandoned medieval Venetian fortress on the Skaros sea-stack: the path drops down the cliff face, hugs the rock, and ends at the tiny whitewashed chapel of Theoskepasti out on the point. The climb back up is the only argument against it. Best at golden hour, 5 to 6 p.m., when the low light on the sea-stack outdoes the caldera sunset everyone else is shooting.
