The façade is a landmark of Italian Gothic: striped marble, mosaics, sculpted bronze doors. Inside, Luca Signorelli's Last Judgement frescoes in the San Brizio chapel (1499–1504) pre-date the Sistine ceiling. Vasari wrote that Michelangelo borrowed from Signorelli for his own Last Judgement. Pay the small chapel ticket; the rest of the cathedral is free.
