Set an alarm. Drive over before the tour buses and you'll have the lunar landscape to yourself for forty-five minutes. Bring water, walking shoes (the rock is sharper than it looks), and your camera. The swim coves at the base are reachable down the cracks, the water twelve metres of clear blue. Avoid noon, when it's an oven and a queue.
