Caffè Libarium Nostrum
The Cut· research-verified, not yet visited
The classic Castello breakfast spot: terrace built into the city's medieval walls, the entire Gulf of Angels in front of you, the locals' morning ritual.
Via Santa Croce 33 on paper, but the panoramic terrace is best reached by ascending Salita Santa Chiara directly onto the Bastione di Santa Croce (the formal address routes maps to the lower wall; the door you want is one tier up). The cornetti are flaky, the cappuccino is strong and not over-foamed, and the view is what makes you stay for a second one. It comes to life again in the evening for aperitivo: a Vermentino spritz on the wall as the lights come on across the harbour is one of the small free pleasures of a Cagliari trip. No fuss, no fine dining, no reservations. Just a terrace on the Bastione di Santa Croce and a kitchen that doesn't ruin it.
