Hala says
Lecce is the Florence of the south, except the stone is honey-yellow Lecce limestone and the style is full-blown Baroque rather than Renaissance. Start at Piazza Sant'Oronzo with the Roman amphitheatre, walk to the Basilica di Santa Croce (the façade that gives everyone a neck ache), then loop through Piazza del Duomo at dusk when the stone glows orange. Two hours, no entrance fees, all the joy.
