The Medici's private garden: eleven hectares of formal Italian design with grottos, fountains, a 17th-century horseshoe amphitheatre, and clear views across the city from the upper terraces. The Grotta di Buontalenti (1583), near the entrance, has sculptures emerging from artificial stalactites.
